Scouts - Snowdon, 2005

It was a fine Friday morning. The weather was fair and the minibus was fuelled up. The older Scouts were packed and ready to go. Our destination? The cold, high hills of Snowdonia. Our mission? To boldly go where lots of people have gone before. It was a fairly uneventful journey, Mark's hig* was billowing in the wind, a white van man gave us the evil eye and we stopped at a service station so Dan could purchase some Gentlemen's magazines and we made the most of soiling their freshly sanitized facilities

When we arrived quickly erected (orr hor hor) our waterproof sleeping devices and went on a practice scramble to get used to what we would doing. The next morning we awoke bright and early to an excellent breakfast of fried fat and grease, also known as a fry up. When we were all finished we split into two groups. The red team contained Adrian, Rob, Jonathan and Tom and the Blue team had James, Dan, Richard, Max, Simon and Mark (Me!)

The weather was amazingly hot and sunny. We went our separate ways, walking and scrambling over different hills in our quest to make a certain leader loose weight. Sorry James. We met up on the top of mount Tryfan where even 40 mph winds couldn't deter us. Scrambling was a lot of fun and we all enjoyed it. When we finally made it back to our camp, we told the other group of our adventures and listened to theirs. We were told of how Jon decided to go swimming in a Bog and we had photos to prove it. We told them of how Richard found love in a small Goat called Gertrude. They are now married and have three but-ugly Kids

After we all had a shower (Separately, not together) we had a lazy evening of playing cricket with a fence post. The next morning we did a shorter walk and then returned to pack up our tents. The drive back was uneventful again; we just ate and listened to music. When we arrived back at the Scout Hut we hung up the tents and sorted out our group kit. We all thank the leaders for the trip and we hope they are planning another visit to Snowdonia so that the younger scouts can experience some proper walking and scrambling.
